At the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show Toyota will present the Fun Vii
Concept, a futuristic vehicle focused on connectivity that can be
customized both outside and inside through integrated displays.
The main feature of the vehicle is the body surface which is used as a
display area that can show custom colors, graphics and messages, that
are selected by the owner through a smartphone app.
The same idea has been explored several times in the past, for example by the Moy Concept that won the auto(r) design challenge in 2009.
The interior, which has a 2+1 seating layout, follows the same
principles, and can be personalized to match one’s mood of the moment.
The cabin also integrates an advanced infotainment system, with
navigation information blended seamlessly through the use of augmented
reality technology.
Among the technological highlights are a “navigation concierge” that
provides driving information and guidance through a vocal interface; a
network update function; and the ability to link with surrounding
vehicles and infrastructure, allowing it to detect potentially hazardous
situations.
The Toyota Fun Vii Concept has proportions and dimensions of a
B-segment car, with a length of 4,020 mm, a width: 1,745 mm, a height:
1,415 mm and a wheelbase of 2,750 mm.
The exterior uses futuristic, streamlined lines with a body volume
that tapers towards the rear end, characterized by two wing elements
which integrate the tail-lights, and a chromed, reverse U-shaped element
that provides a distinctive appearance.
